Visiting the Eiffel Tower: What the Inside of the Eiffel Tower is Like?

Constructing the Eiffel Tower was no easy task, because there were a lot of intricate details that needed to work together. While this would be difficult enough to do today, think of how tricky it was back in 1887! It took over two years to build this structure and to think, it was supposed to be demolished not too long after… So, here’s what is inside the Eiffel tower!

The Tower

The Tower was constructed to use for the World’s Fair back in 1889. There was no reason why the tower was constructed to look as it does, except to ensure that everyone was impressed with the results. Iron was used for the tower and the beams were crossed to ensure that the wind could pass through this structure.

This was one of the tallest structures in the world. However, there have been many buildings constructed since then that are now taller than this tower. Here’s what's inside the Eiffel Tower!

First Floor

There are three red buildings on the first floor, and they contain a theater, a restaurant, shops, and a place to learn more about the Eiffel Tower. The center of this first floor has a glass bottom that you can walk onto.

Second Floor

Now, let’s go further inside of the Eiffel Tower! There are two decks for sightseeing on the second floor. There is also another restaurant that offers amazing views of the city. You can reach this floor via the elevator.

Third Floor

The third floor is much smaller than the other two floors and is mostly used for sightseeing. The bottom portion of this floor allows you to look at the views through the windows, while the upper section allows you to be outside enjoying the incredible views. There is a private apartment on the third floor as well and that apartment was used by Eiffel himself. A television and radio antenna can be found at the very top of this floor.

The Elevator

You can use the elevator to access all three floors. However, if you do not want to wait for the elevator, or you want to add a few hundred steps to your day, you can always take the stairs to the first and second floors. Thankfully, there is more than one elevator, so you will never need to make the climb if you do not want to. The elevators are located within each of the four pillars. Three of the visitor elevators are double deckers, so they can fit more people.

Where can you go in the Eiffel Tower?

Crowds gather and form a long queue to visit the Eiffel tower.

The interior of the tower has four more elevators that will take people from the second to the third floor.

The most interesting part of the elevators can be seen during a tour, so if you want to see how these elevators work, you may want to sign up for a tour during your visit.
